First off hats off to the guys at Rubygems for working tirelessly to sort everything out. The potential list of “I owe you a beer” from developers means that you won’t be needing a drink fund for a long while yet.

To be fair this could have happened to any repository of code information regardless of language. So perhaps the message that the media should be spreading is one of “if you’ve got a repo of code, check it over” and not “your site is doing to keel over into the sunset!”.
